Schiff, Blodget, Ratigan Should Be Among Our Political Leaders

Filed in Politics , Real Estate 1 comments

I’m not a political strategist, but it would appear that gentlemen like Blodget, Ratigan and Schiff, are not leading our country because because their ideas make way too much business sense, the popularity of letting Too Big To Fail banks and austerity measures aren’t as popular as funny money and sugar rushes, and they have a sense of right and wrong that prevent them from being a politicians in the first place.

Of course, Peter Schiff ran for a Republican Senate seat in Connecticut, but was defeated by Linda McMahon (of World Wrestling Entertainment). Turns out, running a business based on theater, drama and knowing how to manipulate a mob of people made her the more popular choice. She should fit in perfectly in the U.S. Congress if elected in November.

I am not a political strategist, either, but there are two things I want to add. (1) There is a political machinery that not one person can change quickly and easily. It can be changed, but it does take an awesome shift in the way politics works. All these interest groups and lobbyists are not going to let their access to power go easily. (2) It takes a certain person and skills to navigate through that machinery. That is why I don’t think that outsiders are necessarily the best choice. Think about Gorbatchev, the consummate insider, who changed the political system and who made himself redundant at the end of that change.
