Green Energy Still Dependent Upon Mining

Filed in Business Trends , Commodities , Green Living 0 comments

Looks like the old adage “If you want to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs” holds true in the case of green technology and renewable energy.

You want to go on a path to a green future? That path starts in a mine. The first step in the supply chain for the green world is the mine.

People who have a knee jerk reactions; people [who] say “mining is evil is evil, mining is bad, mining is dirty”, then forget green. Your world will be black.

I found this video on “Rare Earths” or rare earth minerals particularly interesting, even if it’s a bit off topic, because it illustrates that even though you want an upgrade from what you currently have (dirty energy), you will probably have to continue to harvest resources, perhaps even at an increased rate, using older and proven techniques if you want to reach the next level (renewable energy).
