Most people have had that boss who was a complete idiot. That guy or gal who just didn’t quite get it, but made sure you always did more than your fair share so he had enough data to plot on an excel sheet or project management program to make himself look irreplaceable to upper management.
(Can you tell I’ve had that kind of boss and I read a lot of Dilbert/Dogbert?)
Thanks to social media, you can even the odds a little.
Just make sure you don’t tweet something like “my boss is an idiot” if he/she follows you back.
@ Hank,
That’s another very important point. I’m not sure if people are aware that a blog, or at least a personal blog, gives a small amount of insight into a person’s thought process.
Depending on an underling’s ethics, they could use that to their advantage to advance their career. At least this way, you don’t get accused of being the brown nosing suck up.

My boss has his own blog, and I subscribed to it on the sly just so I could know what he is thinking about certain topics and to try and understand him. I think that I am the only one of my coworkers to subscribe. So, I actually have a lot of the answers to the questions he asks us in meetings when others have no clue.
