Is Advertising on the Moon Going Too Far?

How does looking up at the moon and seeing your favorite corporate logo sound?  The idea isn’t that far away from becoming a reality.

I know I’m a bit hawkish/skeptical when it comes to advertisers constantly bombarding us with their standard “Buy Me!” message, but it’s one thing to pollute the highways with billboards and something entirely different to throw up a corporate logo on the only real estate that can be seen from any location on planet Earth.

Then again, perhaps its just me who doesn’t want a Starbucks or General Motors logo in the Sea of Tranquility.

What are your thoughts on the issue?

Is the moon just the next logical step for advertisers?  Could the moon become the most valuable movie screen on the planet when it comes to getting your company noticed?  Or are we walking down a road where advertisers have to plaster their message everywhere because we’re becoming more desensitized to the message it conveys?
