I haven’t posted a list of my favorite articles in a while, but this week some really thought provoking content made it up on the web this week and it would be a shame not to give it a mention.
When a Parent Steals Your Identity by Liz Weston. I’ve had my credit and debit card numbers stolen in the past by a waitress with a hand held card reader, and while I felt somewhat violated, I can’t imagine how bad the betrayal must feel when it’s done by a parent.
How Many Hours Do You Work to Pay for Your Stuff from My Two Dollars. I’ve long been a proponent of this idea and it really makes you stop and think before swiping the old debit card.
Love Life, Not Stuff at Zen Habits. The title pretty much says it all, but when you catch yourself filling the void in your life with “stuff”, it might be time for a little self reflection of the non-consumption kind.
Bill Moyer’s interview with Wendall Potter (see videos below). This former Cigna VP of Corporate Communications (otherwise known as Public Relations) turned health care reformer discusses the insider secrets of the health care industry. Particularly disturbing were the details surrounding the scare tactics machinery, political lobbyist efforts, and the screenplay like writing which turns Congressional leaders into puppets.
